Barn Quilt Locations
1689 South US Route 235, St. Paris
Barn Owners: Pat and Walter Hill
Quilt Square: "Hand of Friendship"
Sponsors: Champaign County Farm Bureau

The farm was purchased by the Hills in 1992. The current barn, built in 1994, sits on the foundation of the original dairy barn which burned in 1958. When the original barn was built at the turn of the century, it was one of the largest two story dairy barns with an upper hay level and lower dairy level in the area. The small barn in front of the current structure housed an AC Delco generator, making it one of the first farms in the countryside to have electricity delivered by on site production. Today, the current steel building is used for machinery storage and shop for repairs and maintenance of the farm equipment and restoration of antique tractors.
The quilt pattern is called "The Hand of Friendship", signifying the neighborly, generous, loving and warm-hearted nature of the rural community. In partnership with the Champaign County Farm Bureau as sponsor, the center logo depicts an applique of a barn with silo, sunrise, and adjacent farm fields.
