The founder, Simon Moorecraft, built the original house in 1820. It was a two story log cabin. A portion of the foundation still exists. The barn was built in 1830 as a horse barn. In 1850 the existing house was built. Once again, all the materials for the construction were gleaned from or made on the property. The Huhns are the fifth owners of the property.
